I wasn't aware that any of this was going on until I read this article.

It seems to me it would be almost impossible for a firm the size of EY to audit anybody without a conflict of interest poping up, but that said... This lands on HP.

Is there any chance there is something just plain shady going on here?

I kinda hope so. If not this is indicative of wholesale incompetence on the part of HP upper management.
